How we expect you to use Prompt Guard

  • Redact before you paste.

    Replace client names, account numbers, and secrets with placeholders like [CLIENT_NAME] or [API_KEY] before sending prompts to external AI tools.

  • Heuristics, not compliance guarantees.

    Prompt Guard flags obvious risks but cannot replace legal, security, or compliance review (HIPAA, GDPR, SOC2, etc.).

  • Keep your prompts reusable.

    Write prompts so they can be safely reused across clients and projects. Think templates, not one-offs.
